ADAI is using ice cream to promote the dairy industry

The American Dairy Association Indiana’s Ice Cream Social on Monument Circle is giving consumers a closer look at the state’s dairy industry.

Jenni Browning, CEO of ADAI, says the 37th annual event attracts thousands of attendees to downtown Indianapolis each year.

“Our goal is really to protect and promote the image of dairy and dairy farming,” she says. “We want to give consumers the confidence to enjoy dairy and give them the opportunity to engage with dairy foods and dairy farming.”

She tells Brownfield it’s an opportunity for producers to connect directly to consumers.

“They talk about how ice cream gets made,” she says. “We have a cow in the circle and a dairy farmer gets to talk about how it all starts from the farm and gets to be made into ice cream. We really talked about dairy farming and helped connect people to agriculture.”

This year’s ice cream was donated by Kroger and more than $5,800 was raised to benefit the Indiana Sports Corp.
