Advanced crop nutrition pays
Research is showing advanced crop nutrition pays.
Tryston Beyrer, crop nutrition lead with Mosaic, says farmers are seeing results managing their fertility beyond the basic N, P, & K.
“In advanced crop nutrition, we basically encompass balanced crop nutrition plus biologicals, or understanding how we can naturally stimulate some nutrient release from our soils to better facilitate better crop nutrient uptake,” he says.
He tells Brownfield advanced crop nutrition concepts have proven profitable even in lower commodity price situations.
“You could save yourself to prosperity, but usually that ends up with, you know, lower yields and, you know, lower economic returns at the end.” He says, “Another way to look at it is trying to produce more bushels or identifying what that most limiting nutrient is or other management factor.”
Beyrer says farmers should be looking for ways to maximize any fertility management practice they implement.
Brownfield spoke with Beyrer at Mosaic’s Advanced Crop Nutrition Innovation Forum in Champaign, IL.
