AEM is pleased with bipartisan infrastructure framework
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers is pleased with the news that a bipartisan infrastructure deal has been reached.
Kate Fox Wood, senior director of government relations, says AEM is supportive of the agreed upon infrastructure framework, which includes roads and bridges, railways, broadband and more.
“The equipment manufacturing industry is very pleased to see the progress on this, particularly as it appears that it was and will be a bipartisan approach,” she says. “We’ve been pushing for a meaningful and transformative investment in our infrastructure for years—it’s a big deal for the 2.8 million men and women working in the industry.”
She tells Brownfield the organization believes that the nation’s infrastructure is critical to American competitiveness.
“We really see this infrastructure investment, slated to take place over 8 years, as being a key driver in helping us recover from the pandemic and move the country into the next level of global competition,” she says.
She says AEM would like to see the deal reach the finish line in a bipartisan manner.
“The key for us moving forward is that we need to see something bipartisan. We applaud the effort undertaken by President Biden and the lawmakers,” she says. “We want to see a bill passed and we want to see this transformational investment, and this is a once in a generation opportunity. It’s a huge opportunity that could change the way we move and transport goods and ourselves. We just want to see this get done in a bipartisan manner and get done by the end of the year if not sooner.”
AEM says a sweeping infrastructure vision can help deliver environmental resilience, harness digital transformation, retrain American workers, and reinforce fiscal health.
