AFBF president urges member engagement

The president of American Farm Bureau is encouraging member engagement as the organization looks to address several priorities in 2025.

Zippy Duvall says a record number of members engaged with state and federal policy makers in 2024.

“And I’m really really proud of your engagement, but we’ve got to build on that because we’re going to need everybody stepping up in 2025. We are still focused on the finish line on several top issues.”

In remarks during the opening general session of the convention, he said the farm bill is one.

“And while we appreciate Congress passing an extension, we are not going to let up despite lawmakers kicking the can down the road and making political excuses.”

He says a lack of skilled labor is another concern all over the country.

“Your American Farm Bureau team is pressing House and Senate leaders to understand the urgency of ag labor reform.”

And Duvall says tax reform is a priority.

“Our leaders have promised to address it, and we’re going to hold them to it.”
