AFPI establishes Lawfare Advisory Council, designed to help protect farmers from government overreach

The America First Policy Institute says its new Lawfare Advisory Council will help protect U.S. farmers and ranchers from government overreach.

Leigh Ann O’Neill is AFPI’s chief legal affairs officer.

“American farmers and ranchers are being hit hard right now,” she says. “They’re being buried in paperwork, they’re being harassed with overlapping compliance demands. We’re seeing a new trend with regulation permitting the use of eminent domain as tools of punishment.”

During a call with reporters Monday, O’Neill said the organization is pushing back on policies that negatively impact the ag industry.

“We’re developing a formal review process,” she says. “That process will be used to evaluate credible claims of lawfare and recommend the right response, whether that’s legal action, administrative challenges, or public exposure.”

O’Neill says defending farmers and rural communities continues to be a top priority.

The America First Policy Institute was founded by current Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins.
