Ag Budget to be heard on Minnesota House floor today
The Agriculture Budget bill will be heard on the floor of the Minnesota House of Representatives today.
House Ag Finance and Policy committee chair Samantha Vang tells Brownfield the legislation focuses on food access, soil health, and provides direct investments to farmers.
“There are many items that I can name, from farm business education, to equipment grants, to meat processing. And I think the largest investment that we make in this bill is the Grain Indemnity Fund.”
Vang says she’s not sure if the bill has enough support from Republicans to pass.
“There’s a lot of great things that I think they should vote for, but I’m not sure in the end if they will actually vote for it.”
The Senate passed its ag budget by a 58 to 7 vote earlier this month.
