Ag export customers visit Minnesota
Foreign buyers of U.S. ag goods recently visited the Upper Midwest.
Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says his department has welcomed delegations from Uzbekistan, Denmark, and Mexico this month.
“Really looking at trade being very important for Minnesota as we look at corn and beans, but also dairy. A lot of opportunities there to kind of make some deals and push that along.”
He tells Brownfield the U.S. has a strong reputation as an exporter.
“I’m really proud of the crop that our farmers produce here in Minnesota, and then looking at how do we get our crop to those countries. Whether that’s through the Port of Mexico, the Port of Duluth, different types of shipping.”
Petersen says export customers want to know how crops are produced and are asking more about environmental impacts.
