Ag groups ready to push back on MAHA report

Farm groups are ready to push back if an anticipated report by the Make America Healthy Again Commission baselessly attacks agriculture.

American Soybean Association Treasurer Alan Meadows says there are rumors the commission might suggest U.S. farmers are harming Americans through their production practices.

“Possibly some negative implications towards seed oils, and then some negative implications toward pesticides. Possibly naming a couple herbicides in particular that have been proven safe time and time again.”

The Tennessee farmer tells Brownfield ASA has joined the National Corn Growers Association, National Association of Wheat Growers, and International Fresh Produce Association to defend American agriculture.

“That’s our biggest concern is basically just an attack on science, or an attack on agriculture that is not science based.”

In a joint statement the ag groups say if the MAHA Commission report makes untrue claims against the hardworking men and women who feed the nation, it will make further cooperation on the initiative very difficult and potentially put American food production at risk.
