Agriculture accounts for half of Wisconsin’s exports

Wisconsin’s Governor says the state’s exports to other countries grew in 2017, and agricultural products account for more than half of the sales.

Scott Walker says more than 3.5 billion in ag products were sent to 147 countries, which is a 3.6% increase over 2016.  Walker says ag exports grew 1.5% to Canada, 14.2% to Mexico, and 27.6% to China.  Dairy, eggs, and honey products alone topped 296 million dollars, up almost 20% in a year.

Walker says Wisconsin benefitted from 6.9 billion in total exports last year with big gains for soybeans, wood, hides, and skins.  He says the state also exported a lot of electrical machinery, aircraft parts, and Oshkosh-built military vehicles.
