Agronomist pleased with corn yields in Iowa

An extension agronomist says harvest has been steady across Iowa and yields have been better than expected.

Meaghan Anderson is with Iowa State University. “People are very pleased with, especially, corn yields. Given the weather conditions that we had, they are quite good. I’ve heard some really rather remarkable yields, but for the most part they’re at or above average.”

As for soybeans, she tells Brownfield, “Mid 60s to mid 70s captures a lot of those yields. There are some areas that received less rain or had other stresses in my area that certainly have some lower yields, which aren’t totally unexpected.”

Anderson says she expects progress to pick back up this week after recent rains slowed down some field work this past weekend.
