Alford: more USAID changes coming
A U.S. Congressman from Missouri says the U.S. Agency for International Development will get more attention as work continues to reduce federal spending.
Mark Alford tells Brownfield “they moved it under the state department now and I’m going to be working to change the name to the National Security Investment Projects. If it doesn’t have to do with national security, tax payers shouldn’t be paying for it.”
But Alford says food programs are national security.
“When we make other countries secure in their food programs, it directly impacts our national security.”
USAID was one of the first federal agencies to see reductions from the Department of Government Efficiency. Funding for ag programs connected to USAID were cut. Alford says while there is uncertainty…
“We’re $36.5 trillion in debt and not just farmers and small business owners, but everyone in America is at risk of this country going under.”
Alford says the reconciliation process is taking priority for Republican lawmakers in Washington D.C.
