All U.S. pork facilities reinstated to export to China

Registrations for more than 300 U.S. pork harvesting and cold storage facilities have been renewed and are again eligible to export to China.

National Pork Producers Council CEO Bryan Humphreys says the move creates certainty for U.S. pork producers who now have maintained access to the 1.4-billion-person Chinese market.

In recent months, the USDA and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative have been working with China’s General Administration of Customs to renew the registration of U.S. pork facilities that were set to expire or had recently expired.  Following the renewal, the facilities can export to China for five years.

More than 25 percent of U.S. pork production is exported.  Approximately 55 percent of pork variety meat exports go to China, and in 2024, more than $1.1 billion of pork was exported to the country.
