American Coalition for Ethanol calls on Congress to ‘meet the moment’ on E15
The CEO of the American Coalition for Ethanol says Congress must act on nationwide year-round E15.
Brian Jennings tells Brownfield there is momentum in Washington as farmers deal with arguably the worst ag economy in a generation.
“Exacerbated by Monday’s WASDE report from USDA indicating that the corn crop was in fact 17 billion bushels. And I think Congress recognizes that juxtaposed to the farm economy, it’s really incumbent upon Congress to meet the moment.”
He says passage of nationwide E15 would provide an immediate boost to corn demand.
“The long-term is enormously beneficial for United States corn farmers. If E15 is sort of the standard fuel used across the United States, we’re talking 2 billion bushels at least of additional corn grinding into ethanol and then using as a low-cost fuel at the pump.”
Jennings says Congress could attach E15 legislation to appropriations bills expected to be taken up this month.
