American Farm Bureau Convention underway in San Antonio
The American Farm Bureau Convention is underway in San Antonio.
Minnesota Farm Bureau president Dan Glessing says as members gather in Texas, there will be many challenges to discuss.
“Just the uncertainty of the farm economy right now and commodity prices, issues around trade, as well as farm bill. Of course we weren’t excited about the first extension, we’re really not excited about this next extension.”
He tells Brownfield Congress will be busy working on tax policy.
“But at the end of the day, we’re working hard for our members and trying to get that point across that they need the certainty of a new farm bill. Freshen up numbers to reflect those inflationary (pressures) and input prices really have increased since the last time we had the farm bill freshened up, so that’s what we’re going to go for.”
