Ample propane supplies this winter

An industry expert says there should plenty of propane on hand this winter.

Mike Newland, director of agriculture business development with the Propane Education & Research Council, tells Brownfield…

“Corn season and corn harvest was a bit of a miss as far as drying corn goes this year.”  He says, “My guess is everyone would’ve taken that extra rain and some extra bushels to dry a little bit.  What that means for everybody going into heating season is we’ve got a really good supply, steady supply of propane.”

He says it’s brought stability to the marketplace.

“Prices are very steady as a result, and we’ve got a lot of propane.”  He says, “We produce a lot her domestically.  We’re exporting over half of what we could be burning here in the U.S.”

Newland says most exported propane is shipped out of the Gulf Coast for markets such as China, Japan, and South Korea.
