AMVAC Chemical Cooperation says it’s continuing to work with regulators to bring more pest management options to the market.

Product development and technical services manager Wen Carter tells Brownfield, “With our fumigation business, our VAPAM and K-PAM products, we’re doing a lot of stewardship programs and trainings to ensure that growers know how to safely use these products.”

“That in turn is what we used to communicate with the EPA to show them that we are providing the growers with the knowledge and information that they need to use these products, as well as educating the regulators,” he says.

Carter says he’s been working with the EPA to help educate about a new product that doesn’t require a closed handling system for applications.

“Hopefully by the end of this year, we’ll have registration for a new liquid corn soil insecticide that not only controls corn rootworm, but also nematodes, and it can be safely and effectively used without the use of a closed handling system,” he shares

Carter recommends farmers take time during the winter to review major pest issues from the growing season and prepare to get ahead of issues early in 2026.

Brownfield interviewed Carter during the recent NAFB Convention.
