An optimistic future for soybean exports

The chair of the U.S. Soybean Export Council says she remains optimistic about the future of soybean exports.

Michigan farmer Janna Fritz says efforts to reduce reliance on China have paid off, but, “The research shows that we can’t replace China. We really value that relationship and need to ensure that we have a component within the Chinese market.”

She tells Brownfield quality and sustainability have given the U.S. a competitive advantage. 

“We’ve recently signed Memorandums of Understanding with Bangladesh, continued expansion of the market with Vietnam and Indonesia, other opportunities with Southeast Asian countries, and Central American countries,” she says. “All areas that either have growing populations or a growing middle class.”

Fritz says the organization continues to work on diversifying the market and she expects additional opportunities to expand market access in 2026.
