Analyst says corn fundamentals are turning more supportive

The lead economist for grains and oilseeds at CoBank suggests corn could have a strong year in 2026.
Tanner Ehmke says demand has been strengthening.
“Our domestic usage is very strong, especially with ethanol. Feed demand is incrementally climbing.”
He tells Brownfield basis levels have also improved.
“There’s a positive story here for corn. That’s being reflected also in the strengthening in basis. Cash prices are firming and that provides some optimism.”
Ehmke says global grain and oilseed markets remain oversupplied, but increased biofuels production and improving export conditions are boosting optimism that prices have passed their cyclical bottoms.
