Animal ag helping meet UN’s sustainable goals
A new report finds animal agriculture contributes to all 17 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Hannah Thompson Weeman with the Animal Agriculture Alliance tells Brownfield, “Things like zero hunger, things like positively contributing to communities, providing work opportunities, of course contributing to the environment, healthy oceans—the animal agriculture community has a very positive story to tell when it comes to sustainability and we’re excited that’s going on at the global scale.”
She says the report’s release coincides with the UN’s Climate Change Conference COP29 this week.
“They’re going to have a day and several discussions dedicated to food in the food system, and there are several leaders from the animal agriculture community there,” she shares.
