Another strong month for ethanol exports
U.S. ethanol exports remain on a record pace.
The Renewable Fuels Association says the September total of 148.5 million gallons was up 5% from August. Canada took the top slot for the 42nd month in a row, pulling in nearly half of all monthly shipments, followed by the United Kingdom, European Union, Colombia, and Mexico. Brazil remained absent due to a tariff on ethanol imports.
Exports of distillers dried grains with solubles were a three-month low at 1.01 million tons, declining 10% from August, with Mexico leading the way.
Export demand is influenced by several factors, including the relative value of the dollar, domestic biofuels plans, and geopolitical issues.
For 2024 to date, U.S. ethanol exports are 1.39 billion gallons, 37% ahead of 2023, and DDGS exports are 9.1 million tons, 13% faster than a year ago.
