Another technological advancement in farm machinery on the horizon

Kurt Coffey, Case IH

The head of Case IH North America says farm equipment will see some of its biggest technology shifts in the next five to ten years.

Kurt Coffey tells Brownfield that alternative propulsion is one example.  “Although we’re showing electrification in a small tractor there’s certainly other things we can look at around alternative propulsion,” he says.  “That’s around doing more sustainably.”

He says farmers will also be able to stack technologies to better maximize efficiency and productivity.   “The ability for a farmer to be able to remotely monitor operations to make sure machines are running in an optimized format,” he says.  “From their farm, another tractor on their iPad, or from Florida.”

Coffey says Case IH is also incorporating technology, like autonomy, into some of its mid-range combines to make it more accessible to farmers of all sizes.
