Anticipation builds for possible Trump biofuel policy reveal at White House event

The Trump administration could be poised to make a big announcement on biofuels policy next week.

U.S Senator Chuck Grassley tells Brownfield he’s hopeful Renewable Volume Obligations for 2026 and 2027 will be announced during a celebration of agriculture at the White House March 27th.

“We want RVO’s to be what was speculated last year, that we get 5.6 billion gallons without harm done to whatever they do on RINs. And then at least the 15 billion gallons or more on ethanol.”

Trump has reportedly invited farmers and biofuel producers to the White House as the industry awaits an official announcement on fuel additive mandates.

“And I would hope that they would do it, the only negative thing is the fact that it comes on a Friday and they don’t get a lot of news and would that be bad news for biofuels? I don’t think it will be bad news for biofuels, but I surely hope not.”

The EPA has indicated its decision on RVO’s will be around the end of March.

  • Bio fuels are certainly needed to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. There land grant universities of this country have data on energy crop development that is being ignored by the GOP yet will ameliorate tremendously reliance on corn ethanol when further utilized. My utility in Gnvl, Florida has built a biomass power station of 100 MW that runs on cellulose – waste wood and giant grasses like P. purpureum (Elephant grass). Other perennial energy crops are grow able. Just ask Mr. Land Grant! T. Cunilio, Center of Sustainable Agroforestry
