Anxious to get to work with the new administration
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association vice president of government affairs says the cattle industry is anxious to get to work with the new administration. Ethan Lane tells Brownfield that once Brooke Rollins is confirmed as Secretary of Agriculture, he’s optimistic she’ll focus on alleviating some of the regulatory burdens facing producers.
“That’s a big lift we’re talking about,” he says. “A lot of regulations, a lot of work product in that last administration that not a whole lot of which was terribly popular with the cattle industry, shockingly.”
He tells Brownfield farmers and ranchers want more streamlined government operations. “I’m hearing a ton from producers from coast to coast about challenges with the FSA over the last couple of years,” he says. “I mean, we’ve been in an environment of constant disaster. The constant need for producers throughout the supply chain. There are some sort of nuts and bolts service delivery issues that I think are going to be really important for the Secretary to focus on. “
Rollins’ nomination has passed out of the committee and now heads to the U.S. Senate for a vote.
