ARC, PLC, ECAP signups going strong

A Farm Service Agency official says farmers are actively signing up for crop insurance and economic relief.

Wisconsin FSA’s Deputy Executive Director Tyler Radke tells Brownfield they’ve had a steady flow of farmers signing up for Ag Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage. “Wisconsin is actually quite a bit ahead of the national average with producers coming in and signing up. I think at this point already, we’re at 85% plus of what we did last time so yeah, a lot of interest in ARC-PLC.”

Radke says the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP) that was authorized by Congress late last year generated immediate interest from producers. “We have gotten a whole lot of activity. That program and within the first week plus, we’ve had I believe over 8,000 applications in Wisconsin and paid out 75-million plus. It’s been good to see. As I said, we exist here to help producers.”

The deadline to sign up for ARC or PLC is April 15th.  Farmers can apply for the ECAP assistance until August 15th.

Radke spoke to Brownfield during the WPS Farm Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
