Arkansas crops doing well in the home stretch

Crops across Arkansas are continuing to do well as harvest rolls on.

Ninety-three percent of the corn is mature and 58% of the corn has already been harvested.  As of Sunday, 24% of the corn is rated excellent, 53% good, and 20% fair.

All of the cotton in Arkansas has been setting bolls, and 68% of the bolls are opening.  Nineteen percent of the cotton is rated excellent, with 54% rated good and 23% of the crop rated fair.

The peanut harvest is just getting started and 2% of the crop is in with11% of the peanuts dug.

All of the Arkansas rice has headed, and 90% of the crop is mature, but so far, just 39% of the rice has been harvested.

Nearly all the state’s soybeans are setting pods with 65% coloring and 49% dropping leaves.  Thirty-four percent of the soybeans are mature, with 14% of those beans already harvested.
