Arkansas crops doing well
Arkansas crops remain strong after a mostly-dry week.
All of the state’s corn is silking, with 87% in the dough stage, 68% dented, and 17% of the crop mature. Twenty-six percent of the Arkansas corn is in excellent condition, with 50% rated good and 19% rated fair.
Ninety-six percent of the cotton is squaring, with 83% setting bolls, and 7% of the bolls already opening. Twenty-seven percent of the cotton is rated excellent, with 48% rated good and 19% fair.
The second cutting of hay is 55% finished. Overall, 14% of Arkansas hay is in excellent condition, with 54% rated good and 26% rated fair.
Ninety-two percent of peanuts are now pegging, and 46% of the crop is in excellent condition.
Seventy-five percent of the state’s rice has headed and 3% is already mature. Twenty-five percent of the crop is in excellent condition, with 57% rated good and 15% FAIR.
Nearly all of the soybeans are blooming, with 84% setting pods and 5% of the beans coloring. Fifteen percent of the soybean crop is rated excellent with 56% rated good and 23% fair.
Six percent of Arkansas’ cropland has excessive topsoil moisture levels, and 58% of the acreage has adequate moisture. Subsoil moisture levels are a few points higher.
