Arkansas plant board reportedly upholds dicamba ban

The Arkansas State Plant board has denied a request to lift the state ban on dicamba herbicide. A group of Arkansas farmers, through a petition, sought to have the ban lifted until June 25th. Plant board members reportedly said the farmers provided no new information to make them change the ban, which took effect April 16th and runs through October 31st.

Arkansas is the only state with a full dicamba ban during the growing season. More than one-thousand complaints of crop damage were filed last year in Arkansas from dicamba. According to the Arkansas Gazette, the farmers say their soybean and cotton fields are being overtaken by pigweed, which is highly resistant to other herbicides.
