ASA continues farm bill discussions
The CEO of the American Soybean Association says protecting the farm safety net in the 2023 Farm Bill is one of their top priorities.
Steve Censky says improvements are needed. “Because as we saw during the trade war where we lost a 20% drop in soybean prices, we didn’t see any kind of support coming from the rural safety net.”
He tells Brownfield producers depend on risk management programs like crop insurance.
Censky says trade programs could also use a boost in funding. “It’s so important to develop those overseas markets and demand for U.S. agriculture products.”
He says it’s critical for Congress to pass the farm bill before the end of the year.
