The executive director of the American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health says Ghana is a target market for U.S. soy products.

Gena Perry says the country already grows its own soybeans.

“The USA has the highest quality,” she says. “It’s reliable with a high protein content. “Even if they are producing soy in the country, as the poultry market grows, as the aquaculture market grows and even in the human food space, they’re going to need more soy.”

She says the U.S. could benefit from sub-Saharan Africa’s growth.

“We have to look at the full value chain approach,” she says. “How can we connect our partners to better financing opportunities? How can we work together to build more resilient value?”

WISHH is operated by the American Soybean Association and works to promote food security through the development of new markets for U.S. soy.
