Bayer joint venture to explore new technology

Scientists from Bayer are working on innovative solutions to farmers that help them tackle tough agronomic challenges and become more productive and profitable. -------------------------- Wissenschaftler von Bayer arbeiten an innovativen Lösungen, mit deren Hilfe Farmer schwierige agronomische Herausforderungen meistern sowie produktiver und profitabler arbeiten können.

Bayer has partnered with a U.S. bio-pharmaceutical company to explore its new technology for plant solutions.

The PROTAC technology from Arvinas® uses naturally occurring protein degradation to target proteins, “For agriculture, we will be the very first, applying and exploring this technology.”

Dr. Pascal von Koskull-Doring tells Brownfield Ag News the technology could potentially help control weeds, insects and fungi but any products are at least a decade away, “This is really very, very early discovery technology. It’s completely new in agriculture so we first have to explore also this molecular biology in plants and then the application and tools have to be established.”

He tells Brownfield that Bayer is excited about the technology, coupled with Bayer’s leading expertise in health and agriculture, to develop innovations for patients AND farmers.
