Bayer loses third glyphosate court appeal
Bayer has lost a third appeal over court damages awarded to a plaintiff that blames its glyphosate herbicide for causing cancer.
A California appeals court upheld the 86-Million-dollar verdict for a couple on Monday.
Bayer says it “respectfully disagrees with the court ruling because it is not supported by the evidence at trial or the law.” Bayer says it will consider legal options in the case.
In addition, Bayer says Monsanto plans to petition the U.S. Supreme Court this month to review another Roundup case (Hardeman versus Monsanto) that it says raises many of the same legal questions at issue in this case. Bayer says it stands strongly by the safety of Roundup and the extensive science supporting its safe use.
