Beef, corn export sales up on week
The USDA says soybean and soybean meal export sales for the week ending July 4th were below pre-report estimates, while corn, wheat, and soybean oil were towards the lower end of analysts’ expectations. Physical shipments of wheat were more than what’s needed weekly to meet USDA projections for the current marketing year, while beans, corn, and sorghum fell short of their respective targets. The 2019/20 marketing year for wheat got underway June 1st, while 2018/19 runs through the end of August for beans, corn, and sorghum and the end of September for soybean products.
Wheat came out at 284,400 tons (10.4 million bushels). The Philippines purchased 123,700 tons and Mexico bought 65,200 tons, but unknown destinations canceled on 76,000 tons. Net reductions of 108,400 tons (-4.3 million bushels) occurred after sales to the French West Indies (7,400 tons) and unknown destinations (4,300 tons) were more than offset by a cancellation from Japan (120,000 tons).
