Benefits of using sustainable ag practices

A southwest Indiana farmer says more farmers should consider implementing sustainable ag practices.

Don Villwock is the co-chair of Indiana Smart Agriculture.

“For two years, we had conversations of how we need to improve practices to deal with our changing climate,” he says.

He tells Brownfield he’s been using no-till practices for more than 40 years.

“That allowed us on our farm to be more profitable, to be more resilient and actually it’s making our soils more healthy and improving water quality,” he says.

Villwock says a recent report from Solutions of the Land is designed to show farmers the benefits of making the switch to climate-smart ag practices.
