Biden embarks on Investing in Rural America Event Series

President Biden is embarking on what his administration is calling the Investing in Rural America Event series, beginning with a visit to a family farm in Minnesota tomorrow.

Will McIntee, senior advisor for rural engagement at the White House, says the President and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will be on the ground to tout the work the administration is doing to invest in rural communities and address market competition in agriculture.

“One of those areas that he’ll highlight is the USDA investments to expand independent meat and poultry processing capacity that gives farmers more market options and fairer prices, and reduces reliance on a small handful of large meat and poultry corporations.”

He tells Brownfield these investments also provide consumers with more choices and affordable prices.

“And this is really part of the administration’s action plan for a fairer, more competitive and more resilient meat and poultry supply chain.”

McIntee says climate-smart agriculture investments will be another point of emphasis during the rural tour across the country.
