Big Iron co-founder says demand keeps Midwest land prices firm

The co-founder of Big Iron Auctions says the farmland market has been holding firm across the Midwest.
Mark Stock tells Brownfield quality ground is trending higher while marginal land is steady to fractionally lower.
“In Missouri we just sold some land in Holt County that averaged over $15,000 an acre. Some parcels brought $17,000 and some $20,000.”
He says strong sales have also been reported in Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska.
“There still is a high demand for people wanting to purchase land not only as a farmer, but as an investor renting it to their niece, their cousin, or their brother in law because that’s their hedges against inflation.”
Stock says Big Iron has more than 100 land auctions scheduled in the next 60 days.
He recently spoke to Brownfield’s Brent Barnett at the 2025 NAFB Convention in Kansas City.
