Blue Earth County farmer begins corn planting
The planting season began earlier this week for Blue Earth County farmer Karl Duncanson and family. He tells Brownfield they started working ground Tuesday and planting corn Wednesday.
He says the field conditions vary a little, but the ground is very good. “We are a little on the dry side. We’re better off if it is a little dry.” Duncanson continues, “We have a heavy lacustrine soil and it does not work real well when it’s on the wet side.”
And soil temperatures, in the low to mid 50’s three inches deep according to Duncanson, are in good shape too.
