Borlaug, father of ‘Green Revolution’, dead at 95

Nobel Peace Prize Winner Norman Borlaug died Saturday night in Dallas. Borlaug, revered for developing high-yielding, disease-resistant wheat used to prevent famine in developing countries, died from complications of cancer, according to a news release from Texas A&M University.

Known as the father of the Green Revolution, Borlaug’s career was dedicated to using science to combat world hunger. He was Distinguished Professor of International Agriculture in Texas A&M University’s department of soil and crop sciences. Until recently, he still traveled internationally working to improve agricultural science and food policy. Norman Borlaug was 95.
