Broiler hatchery numbers continue year-over-year rise

Hatchery numbers continue to point towards higher broiler production in 2025.

The USDA says 253.313 million broiler-type eggs were set into incubation, a gain of 1.176 million on the week and 2% on the year, with average hatchability at 79.2%.

193.732 million broiler-type chicks were placed into meat production, 988,000 higher than the previous week and 1% above a year ago.

Cumulative placements for this year are 1% of last year.

Comparisons for Brownfield states:

Arkansas: Sets: 26.564 million eggs, compared to 26.464 million the prior week; Placements: 22.238 million head, compared to 22.155 million the week before

Kentucky: Sets: 8.483 million eggs, compared to 8.337 million the prior week; Placements: 6.366 million head, compared to 6.103 million the week before

Missouri: Sets: 9.223 million eggs, compared to 9.222 million the prior week; Placements: 6.166 million head, compared to 6.123 million the week before

California/Tennessee/West Virginia: Sets: 16.064 million eggs, compared to 15.655 million the prior week; Placements: 13.696 million head, compared to 13.971 million the week before
