Broiler hatchery numbers see another rise

Broiler hatchery numbers continue to point towards higher production in 2025 than 2024.

The USDA says 252.417 million broiler-type eggs entered incubation last week, rising 991,000 from the previous week and 3% from a year ago, with average hatchability improving fractionally to 78.9%.

192.663 million broiler-type chicks were sent to meat production, an increase of 1.721 million on the week and 2% on the year, with cumulative placements 3% ahead of the 2024 pace.

Those birds will move to market starting in early April.

The USDA’s updated 2025 broiler production estimate is out April 10th.

Arkansas: Sets: 27.342 million eggs, compared to 27.21 million the prior week; Placements: 21.659 million head, compared to 21.352 million the week before

Kentucky: Sets: 8.098 million eggs, compared to 7.996 million the prior week; Placements: 5.871 million head, compared to 5.663 million the week before

Missouri: Sets: 9.008 million eggs, compared to 9.013 million the prior week; Placements: 5.768 million head, compared to 5.514 million the week before

California/Tennessee/West Virginia: Sets: 16.162 million eggs, compared to 16.141 million the prior week; Placements: 13.984 million head, compared to 14.055 million the week before
