U.S. broiler producers remain on pace to produce more chicken in 2025 than 2024.

The USDA says 247.979 million broiler-type eggs were set into incubation, dropping 2.159 million on the week, but rising 2% on the year, with average hatchability holding just below 80%.

194.076 million broiler-type chicks were placed into meat production, down 188,000 from the previous week, but 1% above a year ago, with cumulative placements holding 1% ahead of last year.

Those birds will start heading to market in early October.

The year-over-year increases for sets and placements come as producers try to keep poultry prices competitive with other proteins and meet demand.
