Bunge and Viterra merger completed
A Missouri-based agribusiness has completed a merger that the CEO says will grow its global footprint.
Bunge and Viterra’s merger became official on Wednesday, July 2. Bunge’s Greg Heckman says “we have more capabilities to sustainably meet the demands of complex markets, providing exceptional products and services to customers at both ends of the value chain: farmers and end consumers.”
Bunge says it will be better positioned to connect farmers in the world’s largest production areas with the fastest growing consumption.
The company says the merger creates a global, fully integrated agribusiness solutions company that has enhanced ability to meet the demands of complex markets, with a strong leadership team and a strong financial profile.
The merger expands the crops Bunge handles beyond grain and oilseeds. Viterra brings to Bunge more than 30 processing and refining facilities in 11 countries, which include oil crush plants, processing mills, biodiesel refining facilities and sugarcane mills. The company will grow to 37,000 employees.
The combined company continues to be led by Heckman and John Neppl as Bunge’s Chief Financial Officer. Viterra’s CEO David Mattiske is joining the Bunge leadership team as co-chief operating officer, alongside Julio Garros with Bunge.
Bunge is headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri.
