Capital improvement bill dies in MO Legislature
Missouri State Senator Rusty Black, from District 12, says a bill that would fund capital improvements across the state, including rural roads and bridges, is dead for now.
“House Bill 19 is the part of the state appropriations process that deals with new construction projects throughout the entire state.”
Black says he’s disappointed with what happened in the Missouri House.
“There were concerns we needed to save $500 million on this year’s budget.”
He tells Brownfield the infrastructure surrounding a new arena at the Missouri State Fair is affected.
“The new Governor Mike Parson Arena, the additional infrastructure that’s needed around there to make that structure more profitable to get people to come in and use it, at this point, those dollars are gone.”
Black says it’s not likely the bill will be brought back up in the state legislature before the session wraps up on Friday, but Governor Kehoe could address the funding in a special session.
