Cargill furthers investments in cultured protein

Cargill says it’s investing in the cultured meat company Aleph Farms. The company’s plan is to move toward a limited consumer product launch with lab-grown steak in three to five years, according to Aleph Farms.

Cargill’s investment in Aleph Farms follows other partnerships in alternative protein. Cargill was an early investor in cultured meat maker Memphis Meats and is also an investor in pea-based protein company Puris. Cargill says its investments in alternative proteins complement its more than $1.5 billion investments in traditional animal protein over several years.

Cargill’s Sonya Roberts says the company is committed to innovation and is delighted to be part of Aleph’s accelerated growth.
