Central Iowa harvest picking up steam
Harvest is starting to pick up in parts of central Iowa.
Extension agronomist Meaghan Anderson with Iowa State University says the crop has been coming out dry.
“I am hearing some harvest reports. I’ve seen some corn fields that have been taken out. Mostly it’s early 100 day corn.”
She tells Brownfield expectations were high for the state’s corn crop after planting season.
“Last year was a really, really good corn year for most of my area. I think people are a little disappointed in making that comparison to what they harvested from some of these fields last year.”
Anderson says the outlook for warm and dry weather through late next week should help give farmers a good jump start on the 2025 harvest.
