CFAA encouraged by Farm to Fly Act proposal

Officials with Clean Fuels Alliance America are encouraged by the reintroduction of the Farm to Fly Act in the U.S. Senate.                

The bipartisan legislation is aimed at accelerating the development and production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).  Donnell Rehagen, CEO of Clean Fuels, tells Brownfield…

“Here you have a brand-new Congress, and you got six senators from the Midwest who the first thing they wanted to talk about was farm to fuel.”  He says, “They’re thinking about you and they’re thinking about you first.  That’s remarkable. And that’s, I think great for our industry.”

The bill would utilize current USDA programs to support the development of SAF, clarify federal definitions, and enable greater collaboration between the USDA and the private sector.  Kurt Kovarik, vice president of federal affairs for Clean Fuels, says it can open more opportunities to meet the increased demand for low-carbon alternative fuels.

“Pleased to see the support from members on the Hill, particularly those from the Midwest, who recognize the value that our industry delivers to farmers and the rural economy,” he says, “and that they would support, you know, building out a sustainable aviation fuel industry.”

U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) are sponsors of the legislation.
