Clean Fuels Alliance partners with PepsiCo to meet decarbonization goals

Clean Fuels Alliance America wants to see an increase of lower carbon biofuels.

Director of State Governmental Affairs Jeff Earl tells Brownfield…

“We need good, strong policy to send that market signal and also provide any kind of incentive that might be necessary to help encourage more use of our fuels,” he says.

Earl says using biodiesel results in a 74% reduction in carbon emissions compared to petroleum diesel.

“It’s a drop in replacement, so anyone running a diesel engine can run on biodiesel or renewable diesel. It’s a great opportunity to decarbonize with the least cost to your operations,” he says.

Earl says the Clean Fuels Alliance recently partnered with PepsiCo to help the company meet its decarbonization goals.

“Right now Pepsi is deploying (biodiesel) in over 100 of their fleets running, B100,” he says.

PepsiCo started a pilot project with Optimus at its Frito-Lay plant in Topeka, Kansas. The company plans to expand the project in early 2025 to include their Wisconsin plant.

Brownfield interviewed Earl this week during the Farm Progress Show, in Boone, Iowa.
