Coalition wants Mexican trucker dispute settled
A coalition of more than 140 businesses, manufacturers, food and agricultural organizations is calling on President Obama to help settle the Mexican trucker dispute.
The National Pork Producers Council is one of the groups signing the letter to the President. NPPC president Don Butler says that, while U.S. pork products were not included on the Mexican retaliation list, they could be in the future. More importantly, Butler says, is assuringour trading partners that the U.S. will live up to its trade obligations.
In spite of a NAFTA provision, Mexican trucks aren’t currently being allowed to enter the U.S. to transport goods. Mexico has raised tariffs on a number of U.S. products in retaliation.
