Combines still rolling in parts of Wisconsin

Some combines are still rolling in Wisconsin, but not many. USDA says 90% of the state’s corn for grain has been harvested as of Sunday. The regions with the most harvest activity now are the northeast and central parts of the state, where only 81% and 89% of the corn for grain has left the fields.
Ninety-two percent of the Wisconsin winter wheat crop has emerged, one percent more than a week ago. Overall, 70% of the crop is in good to excellent condition.
Soybeans and specialty crops including potatoes and cranberries are wrapped up for the year.
Recent dry weather has lowered soil moisture levels. USDA says Wisconsin has no surplus topsoil moisture, with 56% having adequate moisture and 33% short of moisture. Eleven percent of the state is rated as very short and desperately needing rain.
Wisconsin producers had 5.9 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sunday.
With harvest nearly wrapped up, USDA will resume their weekly crop progress reports in April.
