CONAB makes minor crop estimate adjustments
Brazil’s equivalent of the USDA has made modest adjustments to its 2025 corn and soybean production estimates.
CONAB now has Brazil’s soybean crop at 166.328 million tons, up 0.1% from December and 12.6% above the 2024 total on higher planted area and expectations for an improved yield.
The first corn crop is pegged at 22.534 million tons, down 0.4% on the month and 1.9% below a year ago due to planted area changes, but total production is seen at 119.552 million tons, 3.3% higher than last year on a 4.8% rise in the second crop, which is planted after soybeans are harvested.
Big crops out of Brazil typically mean more competition for the U.S. on the export market.
These projections are below the USDA’s most recent guesses, with the next update out February 11th.
