Confirmation hearings this week include Zeldin for EPA administrator
A confirmation hearing for President-elect Trump’s nominee for EPA administrator takes place this week.
Former Congressman Lee Zeldin will appear before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Thursday.
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley tells Brownfield he’s encouraged by a recent meeting with Zeldin.
“I think he’s had enough contact with Trump to know that Trump is pro-ethanol, and he’ll carry out (Trump’s agenda). One of the things I impressed upon him, and I hope we’ll get it, is meeting deadlines on time for RVO’s.”
Zeldin had a record in Congress of opposing ethanol usage mandates.
“I think that he was very forthright in saying when he voted against ethanol he was a freshman congressman (and) didn’t understand the issue.”
Trump’s pick for interior secretary and energy czar, former North Dakota governor Doug Burgum, will also be part of Thursday’s confirmation hearing.
